St. Paul's Second Letter to the Corinthians 4:6-15 Brethren, it is the God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For while we live we are always being given up to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you. Since we have the same spirit of faith as he had who wrote, "I believed, and so I spoke," we too believed, and so we speak, knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into His presence. For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.

St. Paul's Second Letter to the Corinthians 9:6-11

BRETHREN, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows
bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do as he has made up
his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a
cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in
abundance, so that you may always have enough of everything and may provide
in abundance for every good work. As it is written, "He scatters
abroad, he gives to the poor; his righteousness endures for ever." He who
supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply
your resources and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You
will be enriched in every way for great generosity, which through us
will produce thanksgiving to God.

St. Paul's Second Letter to the Corinthians 8:1-5

BRETHREN, if we want you to know about the grace of God which has been
shown in the churches of Macedonia, for in a severe test of affliction,
their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a
wealth of liberality on their part. For they gave according to their
means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own free will,
begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the
saints - and this, not as we expected, but first they gave themselves to
the Lord and to us by the will of God.
